Summary In English

This poem is about the zoo. In this poem, it has been shown that children are watching different animals at the zoo. The poet is advising the children to be careful and polite with the animals. So that the animals will behave with you in the same way in return. The poet also talks about camel’s proud, chimpanzee’s wiseness and penguin’s smartness. He advised children to be polite and disciplined while watching animals in the zoo.

यह कविता चिड़ियाघर के बारे में है। इस कविता में यह दर्शाया गया है कि बच्चे चिड़ियाघर में विभिन्न प्रकार के जानवरों को देख रहे हैं। कवि बच्चों को सलाह दे रहा हैं कि वे जानवरों के प्रति सावधान तथा शिष्ट रहें ताकि जानवर भी उनके प्रति वैसा व्यवहार करेंगे। कवि ऊँट के गर्व, चिंपांजी की बुद्धिमानी तथा पेंग्विन के फुर्तीलेपन की भी चर्चा करता हैं। वह बच्चों को सलाह देता है कि चिड़ियाघर में जानवरों को शिष्टता तथा अनुशासन के साथ देखें।

Hindi Translation Of The Poem

1. Be careful what
You say or do
When you visit the animals
At the Zoo.

जब तुम जानवरों से मिलने
चिड़ियाघर जाते हो
तो तुम सावधानीपूर्वक कुछ भी
करो या बोलो।

Word-Meanings : Zoo ( जू ) -a place where animal are kept, चिड़ियाधर। Manners ( मैनर्स ) -behaviour, व्यवहार। Careful ( केयरफुल ) -contious, सचेत, सावधान

2. Don’t make fun
Of the camel’s hump
He’s very proud
Of his noble bump.

मज़ाक मत बनाओ
ऊँट के कूबड़ का
उसे अपने कूबड़ पर
गर्व होता है।

Word-Meanings : Hump ( हंप ) -a raised part at the back of camel, कूबड़। Bump ( बंप ) -a projected part of the body, शरीर का उभरा हुआ भाग।

3. Don’t laugh too much
At the chimpanzee
He thinks he’s as wise
As you or me.

ज्यादा मत हँसो
चिंपैंजी पर
क्योंकि वह स्वयं को हमारे-तुम्हारे
जैसा ही अक्लमंद समझता है।

Word-Meanings : Chimpanzee ( चिंपैंजी ) -a kind of wild monkey, एक तरह का जंगली बंदर। Wise ( वाइज ) -having wisdom, समझदार।

4. And the penguins
Strutting around the lake

Word-Meanings : Penguins ( पेंग्विन ) -a black and white bird found in Antarctic, पंग्विन। Strutting ( स्टूटिंग ) -walking proudly, शान से चलना।

5. Treat them as well
As they do you,
And you’ll always be welcome
At the Zoo.

तुम उनके साथ अच्छा व्यवहार करो
जैसे वे तुम्हारे साथ करते हैं।
और तब चिड़ियाघर में
तुम्हारा सदैव स्वागत होगा।

Word-Meanings : Treat ( ट्रीट )-to behave in a particular manner with somebody, व्यवहार। Welcome ( वेलकम ) -to invite somebody in a friendly manner, स्वागत।
