Summary In English

In this poem, the child is telling that what does he do after taking a bath. He tells he wipes himself till he becomes completely dried. He also wipes his hands, fingers, toes, legs and nose. He thinks that if he were a dog, he could just shake and would soon get dried.

इस कविता में एक बच्चा कह रहा है कि वह स्नान करने के बाद क्या करता है। वह बताता है कि जब तक वह पूरी तरह से सूख नहीं जाता तब तक वह अपने पूरे शरीर को पोंछता है। वह अपने हाथों, अँगुलियों, टखनों, अपनी टाँगों तथा नाक को भी पोंछता है। वह सोचता है कि यदि वह कुत्ता होता तो अपने शरीर को कपाता और तुरंत सूख जाता।

Hindi Translation Of The Poem

1. After my bath
I try, try, try
To wipe myself
Till I’m dry, dry, dry.

स्नान करने के बाद
मैं अपने को सूखाने की
तब तक कोशिश करता हूँ,
जब तक कि मैं सूख न जाऊँ।

Word-Meanings: Bath (बाथ ) – washing and cleaning the body with water and soap, नहाना। Try (ट्राई)-to make an effort, प्रयास करना। Wipe (वाइप) to clean by rubbing with a towel, पोंछना। Dry (सूखा) – without moisture, सूखी।

2. Hands to wipe
And fingers and toes
And two wet legs
And a shiny nose.

मैं अपने भीगे हाथ
और पैर की अँगुलियों
और दो भीगे पैरों
एवं चमकदार नाक को पोंछता हूँ।

Word-Meanings: Hands (हैंड्स) – an important body organ to hold something, Etel Shiny (साइनी) – giving out light, चमकदार।

Less time I’d take
If I were a dog

जरा सोचो, इन सब
