Summary In English

This story is about a girl named Anandi. One day Anandi was sleeping and dreaming of Rainbow. When she woke up, she saw a rainbow in the sky. She ran out and thought to paint the flower of her garden with the rainbow colours. She actually painted all the colours except yellow. She left the yellow colour for the sun. The rainbow had gone when Anandi finished the painting. The garden now looks extremely beautiful with colourful flowers.

यह कहानी आनंदी नामक एक लड़की के बारे में है। एक दिन आनंदी सोई हुई थी और इंद्रधनुष का सपना देख रही थी। जब वह जागी तो उसने आकाश में एक इंद्रधनुष देखा। वह अपने बगीचे की तरफ भागी और उसके फूलों को इंद्रधनुष के रंग में रंगने की सोची। उसने पीले रंग को छोड़कर सभी रंगों को रँग दिया। उसने पीला रंग सूरज के लिए छोड़ दिया। आनंदी के द्वारा रंग भरने की क्रिया खत्म होने के बाद इंद्रधनुष जा चुका था। रंग-बिरंगे फूलों से बगीचा अत्यधिक सुंदर लग रहा था।

Hindi Translation Of the story

1. It was raining outside. Anandi was
fast asleep dreaming of rainbow. She
woke up to look out of her window.
There was a huge, bright rainbow
across a clear blue sky.

बाहर वर्षा हो रही थी। गहरी नींद में सोई आनंदी
इंद्रधनुष के सपने रेख रही थी। वह अपनी
खिड़की से बाहर देखने के लिए जाग गई।
वहाँ नीले आसमान में एक बड़ा-सा चमकीला
इंद्रधनुष था।

Word-Meanings: Raining (रेनिंग) – falling of rain, बारिश होना। Outside (आउटसाइड)out of house, घर से बाहर। Fast asleep (फ़ास्ट अस्लीप) deep sleep, गहरी नींद। Dreaming (ड्रिमिंग)–having vision in sleep, सपने देखना। Window (विंडो)-an opening in the wall for fresh air,खिड़की। Rainbow (रेनबो ) – a colourful bow of seven colours which appears in sky after rain,इंद्रधनुष। Huge ( ह्यूज)-very big, बहुत बड़ा। Bright (ब्राइट ) – giving out light, चमकीला। Clear (क्लिअर) – clean, साफ़।

2. Anandi ran out to the garden with
Milli, her favourite cat.
Anandi loved to draw and paint. To
day, she wanted to paint the flowers
of her garden with the colours of the
rainbow

आनंदी अपनी प्रिय बिल्ली मिली के साथ बगीचे
की तरफ भागी। आनंदी को चित्र बनाना तथा
उनमें रंग भरना पसंद था। आज वह इंद्रधनुष के
रंग से अपने बगीचे के फूलों को रँगना चाहती
थी।

Word-Meanings: Favourite (फ़ेवरिट) – the thing we like most, मनपसंद। Draw (ड्रॉ) – create something, बनाना। Garden (गार्डन)-park, उद्यान।

3. She coloured one flower with the
violet, and another with the indigo
of the rainbow. One with the blue
and leaves with the green…

One with the orange…
One with the red…
But she left the yellow so that the
Sun may look bright and gay…

उसने एक फूल को बैंगनी रंग से तथा दूसरे फूल
को गहरे नीले रंग से रंगी। एक फूल को नीले
रंग से तथा पत्तियों को हरे रंग से रंगा…. एक
की नारंगी रंग से…. तथा एक को लाल रंग से।
किंतु उसने पीला रंग छोड़ दिया ताकि सूरज
चमकीला तथा दमकता हुआ दिख सके।

Word-Meanings: Violet (वायोलेट) – the colour produced by a mixture of red and blue colours, बैंगना रंग। Indigo (इंडिगो)-blue by get from plants, नीला रंग। Orange the colour of orange, संतरी (नारंगी) रंग। Gay ( ग्रे )-Shiny, चमकीला।

4. And lo! There were beautiful flowers
all over the garden. The Sun was up
there shining in its yellow glory.
After giving colours to the flowers
and the Sun, the rainbow was gone…

और देखो कितने सुंदर फूल बगीचे में हैं। सूरज
अपनी पीली रोशनी के खास ऊपर चमक रहा
है। फूलों और सूरज को रंग प्रदान करने के बाद
इंद्रधनुष चला गया…..

Word-Meanings: Lo (लो) – see देखो। Shining(साइनिंग) glittering with light, चमकना। Glory (ग्लोरि)-pride, गौरव। Gone (गॉन)-left, चला गया।
