यह कविता एक छोटे कछुए के बारे में है। वह बहुत ही धीरे-धीरे चलता है। वह जहाँ कहीं भी जाता है, अपने घर यानी कड़े आवरण (कवच या खोल) को अपनी पीठ पर लादकर ले जाता है। जब वह थक जाता है। तो अपने आवरण का प्रयोग बिस्तर के रूप में करता है तथा उसके अंदर सो जाता है।

Hindi Translation Of The Poem

1. I am a little turtle
I crawl so slow,
I carry my house
Wherever I go.

में एक छोटा कछुआ हूँ
मैं धीरे-धीरे रेंगता हूँ।
में जहाँ कहीं भी जाता हूँ।
अपने घर को अपनी पीठ पर लेकर जाता हूँ।

Word-Meanings: Turtle (टर्टल) – a small animal that lives in water and land, कछूआ। Crawl (क्रॉल)-to move slowly on hands and knees, धीरे-धीरे रेंगना। Carry (कैरि)-to hold something, उठाना। Wherever (वेयरएवर)-at any place, जहाँ भी।

2. When I get tired
I put in my head,
My legs and my tail
And I go to bed.

जब मैं थक जाता हूँ।
तो अपना सिर,
अपने पैर तथा अपनी पूँछ को घर के अंदर कर लेता
हूँ और सो जाता हूँ।
